Happy Thanksgiving from Dr. Sam Bommarito

Happy Thanksgiving from Dr. Sam Bommarito

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. In these times of trouble, it is important that we still take time to find the things to be thankful for. I am thankful that I was able to have friends and family over for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.  I will see you next week.

First- not all reading problems come from lack of decoding abilities. So step one is to make sure decoding is the problem. If you do get outside help make sure they are suing methods that actually have an impact (LTRS tringin by itself does not). If you do go to outside help I’d strongly urge you to consider places like EBLI, they have a good track record and a lot of resources. You may be in for a real suprise when it comes to lawsuits. Recent research has shown the efficacy of RR. Research from Enland has shown there are real limits to the efficacy of synthentic phonics, 10 years in and the scores are still not there. Start with this blog entry and explore ALL the reseRCH, LLL the reearch, ALL the research.
