Happy 4th of July- Preview of things to come by Dr. Sam Bommarito

Last night, the St. Louis region kicked off its 4th of July celebration with the annual Fireworks display at Jefferson Barracks. That’s just a few miles from my house. My friends and family attended. They watched the fireworks from chairs and blankets on the lawn at the J.B. Amphitheater. This was a great way to celebrate our country’s birthday.

In case you missed it last week (there were some technical issues), here is a link to last week’s blog about using repeated reading and music to promote fluency. It discusses what several literacy experts are doing and includes several great ideas for the classroom. LINK.

I’m “back in the saddle” again, lining up interviews and doing some summer tutoring. I’ll discuss how to follow the child and still include systematic phonics, including both analytic and synthetic phonics. Bringing motivation back to reading will be a theme for all the summer posts. I’ll also make you aware of some recent webinars on literacy topics. So until next week,

Happy Reading and Writing,

Dr. Sam Bommarito (aka, the guy in the center taking flak from all sides)

Sounds like a good time, Sam. And the photo is spectacular. You continue to inspire with your dedicated literacy work and the energy you bring to it.
